<p>You can workout anytime or meet with any of our expert trainers from 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM (that’s right open 24 hours, do you dare to do a 3:00 AM workout?)</p>

<p>That’s right everyone is welcome and we hope you’ll come see us. On June 1, 2012 One-to-1 Fitness is hosting our first ever Train-a-Thon in celebration of our 5 Year Anniversary and with all proceeds of the day going to Camp Quality, Sylvan Lake.</p>
<p>All services are free (though we hope you’ll make a small donation to support our fundraiser, but there’s absolutely no-obligation.)</p>
<p>Camp Quality is a kids camp for kids fighting the battle against cancer, help us help kids and raise awareness toward effective strategies to living longer, healthier, stronger and happier.</p>
<p>Everyone is welcome, we’d like to complete as many as 500 workouts in 24 hours, watch fun evening events, potentially live music, food, friends, unusual work uniforms and activities as serious as you want them to be.</p>

<p>This year has been a blur, first there was the super successful You In 6 Weeks Fitness Challenge and then recently the Post Apocalyptic Easter Bunny 4 Week Challenge that doubled as final testing for our much anticipated Your NewTrition™ proprietary nutritional weight loss program.</p>
<p>It’s been awesome watching dozens of people radically changing their lives, bodies and now completely falling in love with fitness and healthy eating. (Many losing 10-15 lbs in just four to six weeks.)</p>

<p>I’m looking for 15 committed individuals to test pilot Your NewTrition™ and group personal training in a time slot with busy moms in mind. <strong>(Tuesday and Thursday’s at 9:30-10:30 AM)</strong></p>

Project: Bikini Dream is going to start officially after the long weekend on May 22, 2012. It will run for 5 weeks ending just before the Canada Day long weekend (perfect timing to try out the new bikini!)</p>
<p>This 5-week fat busting fitness challenge test project is set and ready to roll, we’re so excited to share all our new goodies with you and see what you think.</p>
<p>Be one of the first to try out recipes from our exclusive cookbook. Or use the restaurant guide to dine out, or create new meal plan ideas from our Food Swap Guide featuring more than 200 foods to choose from (and growing!)</p>
<p>The only conditions are as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li>You must be stand on your head committed with no travel plans for the 5 weeks during the challenge.</li>
<li>You must be in reasonable physical condition with no injuries or conditions that would prevent you from exercising. (If you’re unsure ask as it all depends and if you do have a limiting injury or condition we can probably help you anyways we just may prefer to steer you to more suitable programming.)</li>
<li>You must be willing to journal what you are eating and complete additional exercise at home as directed.</li>
<li>You must be willing to participate in before and after measures, testing and photos.</li>
<li>You must NOT have participated in the recent You In 6 Week Challenge or the Post Apocalyptic Easter 4 Week Challenge(sorry I know this may disappoint some people but because space is so limited we want to give as many people a chance as possible.)</li>
</ul>
<p>The program will consist of 2 group training sessions at One-to-1 Fitness each week, one-on-one nutrition and success coaching, and special workouts you can do on your own with little to no equipment in as little as 5-10 minutes.</p>
<p>Training sessions will primarily take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we’re created a new time slot just for you, but because this will run alongside our group personal training program there may be options on certain days to join the other classes. (Because of how full the program is I can only guarantee space on Tues and Thurs but my admin crew is awesome at helping you book into the days and times you want.)</p>
<p><strong>Class times will be at 9:30 AM on Tuesday and Thursday</strong> and space permitting you’re welcome to attend any of our other time slots if there’s room. (6:00 AM, 5:30 PM or 6:30 PM Mon-Fri)</p>
<p>The cost for this 5 week fun fest is going to be $97 which will include both your training and nutritional coaching for the whole 5 weeks. (That’s less than just the cost of nutritional coaching.)</p>

<p>The program provides children with the opportunity to try both new and familiar activities make new friends and gain memories that will last forever!</p>
<p>As trainers, coaches, and Red Deerians we acknowledge our responsibility to try to give back to our great community and contribute to the many wonderful charitable programs it offers.</p>
<p>In the spirit of One-to-1 we believe whenever possible doing so should involve our unique skills, be fun, and enhance our relationships with our clients, supporters and each other.</p>
<p>So what started as a semi-serious comment from one of our team members has become this crazy idea.</p>
<p>We’re proud, excited and a little nervous to announce our first ever <strong>Train-a-Thon to occur Friday June 1, 2012 from 6:00AM to Saturday, Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 6:00 AM.</strong></p>
<p>All training sessions booked during this period will be based on a charitable donation of a minimum of $20 per half hour or $30 per hour. Each trainer will be diligently working to fill their entire schedule to earn the title of “24hour Red Eye Supertrainer.”</p>
<h1>Who can participate?</h1>
<p><em><strong>Anyone!</strong></em> You don’t need to be a client of One-to-1 Fitness to participate. We’re happy to offer anyone access to our services during the train-a-thon both to help them and provide support for this great cause.</p>
<h2>How serious will the workouts be? (Especially at 3:00 AM…)</h2>
<p>The goal of the Train-a-Thon is to utilize our unique skills to help others, so our training sessions will be as serious as you want them to be (or maybe not so serious at 3:00 AM.) Watch for special games, prizes and activities, it’s a given a number of our crew may be sporting…unorthodox…uniforms, coffee is likely to be a given and fun is a must.</p>
<p>Support this great cause, have fun, learn about nutrition, fitness, weight loss, and why anyone who works at One-to-1 is just a little unusual.</p>

We understand though the constant bombardment for participation that forces us all to make decisions about what we can support and what we can’t, therefore this is not a hard expectation.</p>
<p>If you would be so willing we would also graciously accept 2 gifts in kind, these gifts will be used for acknowledgement to volunteers for their support and for prizes for our die-hard participants to also acknowledge their support. Our preferred volunteer gifts would be an enhancement to their donations but that is only a suggestion. Again as we fully understand the cost implications of contributing to so many things these contributions are not a hard demand.</p>
<p>In summary all we ask in exchange for direct media exposure is that you rally those within your circle of influence to help us reach an audience big enough to raise $10,000 or more by way of 500 or more workouts in 24 hours for a great cause.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Over the years a number of different diets have come and gone, but through Atkins, The Zone, South Beach and many others one thing seems to remain consistent, be cautious of how many carbohydrates you consume.</p>
<p>This is reasonably good advice and yet over simplified. For most of us the only reason that carbohydrate consumption ever becomes a problem is for these two reasons:</p>
<p>1)     The abundance of food processing or additives used in food preparation contains countless grams of hidden sugars you never realize you’re consuming.</p>
<p>2)     Most people don’t understand the differences between a starchy carbohydrate and a fibrous carbohydrate and how each has its distinct benefits.</p>
<p>No matter what your belief about carbohydrates if I could urge you to make one positive change in your own nutritional habits today; it would be to reduce processed food and food additive consumption. By doing everything you can to eliminate as much or all processed food and keeping dining out to a minimum you will eliminate many food additives. This decision alone will potentially reduce your daily caloric intake by 15-25%, all of which will be primarily sugar and fat. We’ve seen new clients at One-to-1 Fitness lose as much as 8lbs in their first week as their bodies detoxify from all of these hidden sugars and additives.</p>
<p>Next if steady weight loss is your goal it’s important that you understand the differences between starches and fibrous carbohydrates and what they mean to your goals.</p>
<p>Starchy carbohydrates include potatoes, rice, oatmeal, other grains, and vegetables like peas and corn. When you consume a starchy carbohydrate it is quickly devoured in the stomach. This quick reaction results in an equally quick elevation of blood sugar prompting an insulin release. Insulin, in our body, is like the master key, it unlocks any door to any cell. Once blood sugar is elevated insulin quickly goes to work unlocking doors and allowing the blood glucose to enter, first to muscle cells, then to our liver. Once the liver is topped up the excess blood sugar cannot remain in the blood stream it must go somewhere. The body’s want not, waste not attitude begins to assemble left over blood sugar into triglycerides which become just as you expect, body fat.</p>
<p>So in this simplified word picture you can perhaps see the basic component of managing the shape of your body, we simply need to find ways to manage our blood sugar ensuring we never do more than top up the liver with blood sugar.</p>
<p>One of the ways to use excess blood sugar before it’s assembled into triglycerides is of course to exercise or be active, something we all need to do for a variety of reasons. But we can also add to your fitness and weight loss strategy another form of efficiency, fibrous carbohydrates.</p>
<p>Fibrous carbohydrates consist primary of your dense vegetables such as Celery, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Peppers, Asparagus and so on. Fibrous vegetables in comparative volumes to their starchy counterparts don’t contain nearly as many calories, additionally those precious energy calories are very difficult to extract. Within the stomach the body must often expend more calories than it receives breaking down fibrous vegetables. This means you’ve effectively turned your stomach into an engine to consume some otherwise excess blood sugar, in fact when your nutrition is balanced your 24/7 hard working stomach can become one of the best fat burning tools available to you.</p>
<p>Now that you understand the basics you can see why eliminating processed foods and food additives; as well as combining starchy carbohydrates with fibrous carbohydrates may be a helpful addition to anyone with a weight loss goal. Your body is much like an engine making it perform optimally or change physically is much about finding the right mix of fuel, and taking it out for a drive (exercise) on a regular basis.</p>

<p>I am going to share with you one of our absolutely most powerful training tools we use with all of our clients at One-to-1 Fitness. This one tool will take up less than 5 seconds of your time on a daily basis and I guarantee you will have an incredibly dramatic impact on your success. Aptly named we call it a Success Chart. If you have a current calendar handy than I you already have a simplified version of our Success Chart at your finger tips. Here’s how it works.</p>
<p>1)     Set a monthly goal. We all know how goals are important but if you even doubt it for a second I just want you to envision having 15 minutes to get somewhere in down town Toronto, you know it’s not far but you don’t have a road map. Without monthly goals you are as likely to reach your fitness objectives as you are to reach your Toronto destination on time, not very. Make your monthly goal realistic and attainable, something like losing 5-6 lbs or one pant/dress size.</p>
<p>2)     Set a daily exercise and nutrition goal for each week. Again these small goals are critical, but only if they are simple and realistic. So don’t plan to change everything tomorrow, rather simply look at your current lifestyle habits right now and decide what small steps you could make this week. An example might be if you always skip breakfast and then go out for a big lunch your weekly nutrition goal might be to always have something, anything, for breakfast and to pack a lunch a minimum of three days this week. Fitness might be to meet with a personal trainer 1-2 times or complete 3-4 different classes as well as going for a walk at least four days this week.</p>
<p>3)     X’s but not O’s! Here’s the magic. Your Success Chart is one of the simplest and most effective types of journals. Each day you meet your nutritional goal for that day/week you draw a line diagonally through the day. If on that same day you exercise as you’ve outlined for that week then you draw the other line to make the X. At the end of each week if you’re not making progress simply look at how many X’s you have on your chart. We often don’t realize when we are off course until it’s staring us right in the face.</p>
<p>I know this doesn’t sound like the answer to that missing link in your nutrition, it’s not that magic tummy tucking exercise, heck it’s not even a direct plan. Though the Success Chart may be none of those things it can easily outperform them all by providing the most important component of any fitness and weight loss program, rigid, trackable, consistency.</p>
<p>Don’t doubt the power of this tool, trust me and try it, 3-4 weeks of mainly X’s and there is absolutely no way you will not have modified your lifestyle and experienced physical change.</p>
